Billionaire Elon Musk has just posted on Twitter that he will buy the English soccer club Manchester United.
Elon Musk tweeted that he would buy MU
The world’s richest billionaire regularly sends out shocking tweets and it’s unclear if he actually bought the club.
“I will buy Manchester United,” he wrote in a tweet.
Manchester United is one of the most famous football clubs in the world. He has won England 20 times and 3 times he has won the C1 Cup, the most prestigious tournament in the world at club level.
The club is now owned by the American Glazer family.
MU reached a market capitalization of $2.08 billion on the stock market on August 15.
In the past, MU fans vehemently opposed the Glazer family. The family bought the club for £790 million in 2005, when the club was in dire straits.
The anti-Glazer movement has grown stronger since last year, after United became involved in a failed attempt to create the European Super League.
Some fans have urged Musk to buy MU instead of buying Twitter. Musk is trying to get out of a $44 billion deal to buy Twitter when the social network sues.
