Previous studies have concluded that sex is equivalent to light to moderate exercise. Other studies can determine the average number of calories burned during sex, which is less than running or going to the gym.

How many calories does sex really burn?
The researchers found that men burned an average of 101 calories during sex, or about 4.2 calories per minute. Women burn an average of 69 calories, or about 3.2 calories per minute, during sex.
The results are based on a 2014 study that compared the calories burned by young, healthy couples having sex for 25 minutes versus running on a treadmill for 30 minutes. These 25 minutes include foreplay, intercourse, and at least 1 orgasm.
“It is possible to expend energy during sex,” said study co-author Dr. Anthony Carrelis, a professor at the University of Quebec in Montreal.
Another study in 2013 showed similar results. A 30-year-old man can only burn 21 calories if he has sex for 6 minutes straight.
5-6 minutes is the average length of intercourse, excluding foreplay. Of course, the amount of calories burned varies from person to person, with a little more or a little less than the participants in this study.
How to Burn More Calories During Sex
When you exercise, your body uses more energy and burns more calories. So if you want to burn some extra calories during sex, do more and get more orgasms.
“Sweat is a good sign you’re burning calories,” says Dr. Anthony Carrelis. “You can prolong your sex life in hopes of burning more calories. Easier said than done.”
“There are a lot of sex positions,” said Indiana State University professor Debbie Hebenick, Ph.D. I advise people to choose the position that makes them and their partner happiest, not the one that will burn another 5 or 10 calories. ”
